Amy Simons is an artist, counsellor and process art facilitator based in Cape Town, South Africa. She has been working as a creative arts facilitator since 2012 and has collaborated with a variety of organisations and educational institutions. In 2015 she completed her BA Social Science at UCT as well as her intensive ASTAR art facilitator training course. She currently works as a process art facilitator, running group programmes and one-on-one sessions with children and young adults.
She is a self-taught visual artist who mainly works with watercolour, oil paint, and inks. She is drawn to using watery materials that enable her to explore themes of love, loss, intimacy, and sexuality. She has participated in a variety of exhibitions and group shows since 2017. In 2018 she curated, marketed, and conceptualised an exhibition at 196 Gallery in Woodstock called: Spaces // A Constellation of Visual Stories and in 2019 she exhibited a body of work as part of Underline Projects at MOAD in Johannesburg. In 2020 she had a solo exhibition, Intimate Imprints, with Madlozi Art Gallery on their online platform.
