Anushka Kempken was born in 1996 and is a visual artist based in Cape Town, South Africa. She explores different ways of manipulating surface materials through weaving techniques, creating ambiguity and depth. Anushka sees her work as a continuation of the organic harmony seen in nature and life. Her art making process is a series of intuitive decisions that result in a mess or harmony of individual stories that come together. A process of calming the storm and bringing order to chaos.
She studied a BA in Fine Art at the University of Pretoria and has exhibited her work all over South Africa, including at the Zeitz MOCAA in Cape Town and The Project Space in Johannesburg.
Most recently she had a solo exhibition called The Rain Makers at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town from 4 March – 9 July 2020. She is represented by Axis Art Gallery, Cape Town.
